Harry's First Birthday

This page is all about the tale of Harry's first birthday!

Unfortunately, there was the small matter of a hurricane (Jeanne) which hit central Florida on Sunday, September 26, 2004. This resulted in a lack of power throughout most of Apopka, including our house, and the home of Miss Dina, Harry's "other" mom. So the family birthday party was held at Harry's favorite hangout, the local Barnhill's restaurant, and the party at Miss Dina's daycare was held on the following Friday, after the power was restored.

Enjoying the birthday feast with his pals from daycare.

We really had a blast at Miss Dina's.

...and Harry really liked wearing the crown!

Harry's cake at Barnhill's didn't last long... (Good thing we had two!)

This is the only bite of the little individual birthday cake that Harry actually had. He had a lot more fun just smashing it...

...as he demonstrates here.

Harry saved a special kiss for his favorite server Donna.
(He likes Jason too, but he just doesn't have Donna's dimples...
and we all know how much boys love those dimples!)

We had to run to the bathroom for an emergency birthday clean up before present-time, but even that was fun.

Getting a little help from Ray to open the first present.

Eventually though, Harry got the hang of it.

Harry was a little worried we were going to give him girly presents.

Ray gave Harry this cool Baby Tad (from Leap Frog) talking toy. When Ray pushed the button and made it say "I love you"...Harry immediately responded... "I yub ooo too!"

Harry really liked the Little People bus from Beth & Katie... so much that he was less than thrilled to have to part with it and open something else.

Harry's birthday was a lot of fun. He got some great gifts, spent time with friends and family, and in spite of the lack of power (and air conditioning), he managed to have a blast!

This takes you back to the beginning.
